I have lived in The Colony since 2013. I have volunteered for The Colony Citizens Police Alumni Association since 2018, serving as Treasurer for three years. I was also involved in the Citizen Patrol program in support of our police officers for 3 1/2 years. Now, as a dedicated public servant, I am committed to bringing positive change to our community. Read more about the key issues I stand for below.
KEY ISSUES
Matthew Wheeler: A Champion for the People
-
Protect Services for Disabled and Senior Citizens
-
Prioritize Budgets for All First Responders
-
Promote Policies for Small Business Owners
-
Personalize Communication for City Residents
The Colony is a phenomenal city with much to offer its residents. As a Councilmember, I would advocate for more advertising of current services for the disabled and senior citizens, as well as the protection and expansion of such services. Considering our city’s
rapid growth, it is vital to ensure generous budgets for all our first responders to prepare for necessary equipment upgrades and appropriate staff support.
As a former small business owner, I identify with and will support the needs of those trying to be seen and thrive amid the hustle and bustle of our big box stores and restaurants. Finally, I will strive to see residents as people, not numbers, to be blind to economic status, color, religion or any other category which can often divide, and to address issues important to the people such as high traffic and road conditions.
My goal is simple: If elected, I will serve the people of The Colony by listening to their concerns, responding to their needs, and considering their best short-term and long-term interests.
I am running for City Council, Place 6. My leadership will bring valuable experience to the Council to better represent the needs of the citizens of The Colony, and I would greatly appreciate your vote.
